Utica gears up for community celebration

Fireworks at Proctor Park

 

The City of Utica has partnered up with The Genesis Group to give the residents a grand celebration this Fourth of July.

The festivities begin with the Fourth of July parade beginning at Our Lady of Lourdes Church and proceed north to the Memorial Parkway. The parade starts at 11 a.m. Genesee Street will be closed to traffic during the parade until approximately noon.

The Easy Money Big Band

After, come out and celebrate at Proctor Park on Culver Avenue, Utica at the Party in the Park with live music from La Banda Rossa (6 p.m.), The Easy Money Big Band (7 p.m.) and Holidaye (8 p.m.) with fireworks at dusk. This is going to be the largest display yet … 30 minutes. There also will be 8 bounce houses for the kids to have an adventure on. The event has strived to have all nationalities represented through food. There will be several local food vendors including The Grape Vine and Smokey’s BBQ Chicken. Make sure you bring your appetite. There will also be a beer garden for those that are 21 and older provided by F.X. Matt Brewery Co.

There will be a shuttle service that will be running between Mohawk Valley Community College and Proctor Park.
