The Lake House Restaurant and Lodge
We recently stumbled upon a place that you would find while watching a Hallmark movie – The Lake House Restaurant and Lodge located in Richfield Springs. The Lake House has all the charm of small town that is loaded with big city flavors. As soon as you walk in you feel the magic of the place with a covered porch that has plenty of seating for you to enjoy while you wait for your table or just to catch up with friends. We sat in the bar section of the restaurant that is surrounded by windows to enjoy the beautiful view of Canadarago Lake and has a cozy feel with the fireplace. They also have live entertainment during the evening hours for your listening pleasure. During the summer months there is outside seating, fire pits and chairs to enjoy our beautiful summers and live music on their large stage. The Lake House is not only a restaurant but they have rooms to rent all year long on their second and third floor. From their homey décor and homemade food you will feel like you are right at home. We sampled a few of their dishes to give you an insight of what you can expect when you come out for a visit.
Grilled Flatbread Pizza – Crisp, thick pieces of pepperoni and just the right amount of cheese top this thick flatbread that is soft in the middle and crisp on the outside. And, every good pizza has to have the best sauce and their sauce will not disappoint your taste buds – a sweet sauce that is followed up with a tang of spices and sprinkled basil throughout.
Braised Short Rib – The presentation is so beautiful you almost don’t want to bite into it but you won’t be able to resist. The short rib is so tender that is melts in your mouth. The sauce that accompanies it is the perfect pairing – a sweet, thick brown gravy. The short rib is paired with a creamy with a little crunch throughout risotto and purple cabbage that gives it the crunch you are waiting for.
Steak Au Poivre – Chef Michael Gregory trims each steak to perfection. This thick steak cooked a perfect medium rare is coated with a peppercorn crust that packs the right amount of heat. The brandy infused “gravy” cools down the taste buds from the heat of the peppercorns. I am a lover of all kinds of potatoes and theirs is the real deal – a silky, golden rich in butter flavor creation. It goes perfectly with the steak. And, we can’t forget about the medley of veggies that refreshes the plate.
Chicken Francaise – Two large lightly breaded, pan fried chicken breasts over a very generous portion of linguine. This light and refreshing entree is bursting with lemon flavor throughout the entire dish. The wine infused lemon butter sauce coats the perfectly cooked pasta. More flavor is added by the hints of olive oil and garlic. The finishing touch is fresh parmesean cheese that is sprinkled over the dish.
Profiterole – Everything about this dessert is simply amazing. Homemade pastry stuffed with a creamy vanilla ice cream drizzled with their homemade chocolate sauce and whipped cream. I am going to focus on the heavenly sauce that was created – a rich, luxurious sauce that should be bottled up and sold for everyone to enjoy at home. It was perfect way to end the evening.
