Stockwell tells her inspirational story
Melissa Stockwell recently brought her story to Port Byron Senior High School and spoke from the heart pulling at the heart strings of the audience. Stockwell told her inspirational story and explained how she wanted to join the military but her parents were against the idea and she enlisted anyways. Overseas she began her journey to defend our country where she fell short on completing her time due to an injury where she lost her leg. But that didn’t stop this avid swimmer, bike rider, mom and Olympian. Along with her story she shared a slideshow of photos of her life. She’s truly an American Hero who has made a difference in the lives of others. She joined up and started up the Dare2TRI Paratriathlon Club which helps raise money for service members who have disabilities.
The night also had a special guest that came all the way from Nashville – Mary Sarah to show her support for this great cause. Mary Sarah has appeared on The Voice, performed songs with Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, Tanya Tucker, Vince Gill, Ronnie Milsap; just to name a few. You can check out her songs on her CD “Bridges.” The crowd didn’t skip a beat they were on their feet dancing and singing along.
Both Mary and Melissa met with the crowd after the show to sign autographs and talk with them. Central NY hopes to see Mary Sarah come back to put on a show again.
