SantaCon takes over Varick Street
Hear those sleigh bells jingling up and down Varick Street on Saturday, Dec. 20th at 12 noon when SantaCon hits like a big red wave of bearded love and generating funds to go toward helping Mother Marianne’s Soup Kitchen and Pantry‘s continued assistance to the Utica community.
This bar crawl, Utica’s second annual, requires participants to dress like Old Saint Nick or any of his merry minions (elves, reindeer, any Christmas themed creature will do!). Last year’s event successfully raised over $1,500 in donations for Mother Marianne’s and this year organizers hope to meet and exceed that goal. In this season of charity and giving, all are asked to remember the joy of reaching out to our neighbors and helping our society. SantaCon is an event that is both enjoyable and beneficial. Have a blast while helping others!
To officially register for the bar crawl, participants should report to the Saranac Brewery between 12 noon and 1 p.m. A $5 donation gets you seasonal swag like a free beer and your official SantaCon wristband allowing you entry into the following participating bars on the strip and the street wide Christmas party : The Celtic Harp, Nail Creek Pub and Brewery, Shots, Lukin’s Brick Oven Pizza and O’Donnell’s. Flashing your wristband will also make you instantly eligible for all the great food and drink specials each venue will have available that day.
Mother Marianne’s Westside Kitchen is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to helping provide food to the homeless, unemployed and working poor. Among other assistance, the Kitchen serves hot lunches Monday through Friday and bag lunches on Saturday and Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at 702 Columbia St., Utica. The facility may be reached at Phone: 315-731-7271 and also found on the web.
Live festive entertainment will be liberally provided along Varick Street during the SantaCon bar crawl and Christmas party as you mix and mingle to the jingling beat and the tasty beer and foodstuffs our bar district has to offer. A list of important guidelines can be found on the Info portion of the SantaCon website. Please review them prior to your arrival.
