Rock ’n Derby twisted more than just Metal
Rock ’n Derby recently took over the fairgrounds at The Schaghticoke Fair with a weekend that was filled with some of the most-craziest, heaviest, loudest rockers on the music scene. Thousands of music lovers came together for one reason only – rock n roll! They banged heads, crowd surfed the never ending sea of people and mosh danced into their fellow comrades. And, they were not disappointed with heavy hitters like Pop Evil, Shinedown, A Day to Remember, Halestorm, Sevendust, Red Sun Rising, Ghost, Lamb of God and Anthrax amongst others.
It was nice to see the bands getting involved with the crowd like when Leigh Kakaty the lead vocalist from Pop Evil got off the stage and ran around the whole crowd and came back onto the stage when mid-song instrumental was about to lead into the next verse. And, we can’t forget about Lizzy Hale and the rest of Halestorm that took a moment in between songs to gather adult beverages to pause and cheers the crowd with their cups in the air thanking everyone for their love and support.
Whether you were there just for the day or you took advantage of the camping and partied like rock stars all weekend there was never a dull moment. Rockers were also able to take a break and witness some good ole fashion wresting and some classic rock ‘em, sock ‘em demolition derby. It was as an electric weekend of music with three stages of nonstop music with explosions of confetti and beach balls being thrown from the stage.
We were able to catch up with a few of the bands and talk shop. Check out our interviews below with Clutch, We Came as Romans, For Today, Miss May I, Cilver and Experiment 34. Thank you guys – you rocked!
Also, we captured the weekend with our lens. So, take a look through our slideshow and relive the magic with us.
