Rock superstar band REO Speedwagon will be performing live at 8 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 17 at The Stanley Center for the Arts, 259 Genesee St., Utica. The concert is presented by The Stanley and Valley Health Services (VHS) as a fundraiser for both organizations. Local musician Justin Smithson will open the show at 8 p.m.

Formed in 1967, signed in 1971 and fronted by iconic vocalist Kevin Cronin since 1972, REO Speedwagon is a band whose credo is a never-ending desire to give their all to their fans. By the early ’70s, the band’s unrelenting drive, as well as non-stop touring and recording, carved a path straight to platinum albums and freeform FM radio staples such as Ridin’ The Storm Out, Roll With The Changes, Time For Me To Fly, Keep Pushin, Golden Country and 157 Riverside Avenue. Soon to follow was 1980’s explosive Hi Infidelity with hit songs like Keep On Loving You, Take It on The Run and Don’t Let Him Go.
REO continued to ride the top of the charts with an RIAA-certified 22 million albums sold in the U.S. and 40 million around the globe (all fueled by a string of gold and platinum records and international hit singles including Can’t Fight This Feeling). Today REO is still doing what they’ve always done — taking care of their legacy, focusing on the future and carrying on with music that defines excellence in song craftsmanship and brilliant live performance for several generations of fans.

Tickets start at $35 and can be purchased at The Stanley Theatre Box Office at 1 p.m. Saturday; by phone at 724-4000; or online at or
