Pirate’s Weekend at Sylvan Beach

This weekend at Sylvan Beach you can come and enjoy all ‘yar’ favorite things about pirate culture with none of that pesky scurvy, chapped lips, or well, piracy. This community-wide event brings people and pirates of all ages to the Sylvan Beach to enjoy pirate-related activities, costumes, food and drink, crafts, music and much more. Pirate’s Weekend takes place Thursday, July 20 through Sunday, July 23 in Sylvan Beach.

The weekend’s festivities begin at 5 p.m. Thursday, July 20 at the pavilion and at 5:30 p.m. the mayor will officially sanction Pirate’s Weekend and participate in the Raising of the Pirate Flag.

The “adult fun” kicks off Friday, July 21 with more adult-geared entertainment with the Best of the Beach Pirate’s Grog Pub Crawl, a Pirate Grog Competition beginning at 7 p.m. Pick up your bar crawl cards at any participating bar. There will be live music, vendors, antiques, and various entertainment venues throughout the Village Park. KISS FM will be kicking it off at 7 p.m. at Captain John’s and will be announcing the winner of the pub crawl at the after party at Sunset Grill starting at 11 p.m.

Don’t worry they didn’t forget about the kids. Saturday, July 22, will be the Family Fun Activity Day beginning at 9 a.m. and tons of fun things for your “little pirates” to do. Some of the fun scheduled for the day are things such as “Pirate’s Booty Treasure Hunt,” “How to be a Pirate” class with Captain Jack, and the Carbone Pirate Parade, which participants in the “How to be a Pirate” class are welcome to join and a family bon fire on the beach. The evening ends with a fireworks display on the beach which starts around 9:30 p.m.

Pirates Weekend concludes Sunday, July 19 with its Activity Day starting with a 5K Pirate Run/Walk to benefit the “Sitrin Veterans.” There will also be a Sand Castle Competition and a pirate’s drink of the day – Bloody Mary! Arrr you ready?
