As soon as you walk in you are greeted by their friendly staff and will be seated in their intimate dining room – a perfect place for a date night! Nola’s is sure to impress everyone who walks through their doors with their food, beautiful décor and wonderful staff.
Fried Green Tomatoes
The South has nothing on Nola’s when it comes to these plump, perfectly fried creations. They take a green, yes green tomato slice it nice and thick, pan fry it with a light cornmeal crust and they have paired it with the most luscious ingredient – crab. The lump crab salad gives it a nice balance and adds just the right creaminess that stands up to the hearty tomato. And, if it couldn’t get any better – it does with the buttermilk jalapeno dressing that gives it the perfect kick.
Grilled Nectarine & Burrata
What can I say about this appetizer but delightful. It’s a nice way to start off the meal with the pure freshness of the local ingredients they use. They grill the nectarine that turns this sweet piece of fruit into soft, yet firm fruit that balances the field greens that are layered in between the fruit. The vinaigrette is the glue of this dish holding all the favors together. Adding even more flavor to this dish is the candied cashews – that gives it the right amount of crunch and the candied jalapenos. But, there is even more to this creation – fresh mozzarella that you can taste the freshness that will melt in your mouth.
This dish is certainly going to snap in your mouth with a pure authentic Asian flavor. This hearty and we call it “supersized” fish is coated with the nutty sesame seeds and peanuts that add just the right amount of crunch to the fish. And, the sauce might fool when you take your first bite but after each bite you will feel the heat more and more that is packed into their sauce. Paired with the fish is their take on sushi – a blend of sticky yet sweet rice that is rolled into perfection. It gives it the right amount balance to the dish. When you hear the word pickled you know that it’s going to be amazing. The vegetable slaw – that’s what I call it – is crisp veggies that are piled high on the sushi roll and adds the snap to the dish.
I really don’t know where to start with this melt in your mouth, fall off the bone ribs but I will start with this – make sure you have EXTRA napkins. These HUGE ribs are perfectly stacked on each other and are accompanied with collard greens and not your average macaroni and cheese. The ribs are slathered in their homemade BBQ sauce that has the perfect blend of smokiness and sweetness. You will easily forget where you are and will just want to grab them and eat them with your hands. And, really is there any other way? The slaw that is topped over the ribs cools off the taste buds and adds the extra crunch the dish. Every meal has to have a side dish and veggie, right? Well, after one bite of their collard greens you will not be able to stop with their addition of beer and bacon that puts if off the chart. And, macaroni and cheese mixed with jalapenos that is deep fried. That in itself says it all! But I will say a heavenly mix of creaminess and heat.
