Madison County Fair kicks off this weekend
When I think of the county fairs I attended over the years I remember first having amazing days and nights there with my parents. We would play midway games, eat fair foods and hit all the best kid-friendly rides. As I got older I would go with my fellow teenagers to make new friends, since it was a fun and safe setting where we could meet new people that were still from “the area.” Now as an adult I go and sample the wares of local artisans and vendors, mingle with the crowd, and still hit the midway for rides and games. This weekend is the Madison County Fair that will take place Thursday, July 9 through Sunday, July 12 at 1968 Fairground Road, Brookfield. General admission to the fair is $3.
The fair has it covered for the entire family ranging from a petting zoo, a Freestyle BMX Stunt Show, Demolition Derby & Rollover Competition, midway games and rides, chicken barbeque, a Frozen T-Shirt Contest and their 2nd Annual Karaoke Contest that will give participants a chance to win a blind audition on NBC’s hit show “The Voice.” For a complete schedule of events, visit http://www.madisoncountyfairny.com/#!schedule-of-events/cigq
This year the people of Madison County (and anyone else who wants to go) can enjoy all that classic, family-friendly fun, as well as an evening of music featuring award-winning country duo Montgomery Gentry. The first night of the fair (Thursday, July 9) there will be a concert brought to you by the Madison County Fair and radio station Bug Country 99.7 & 101.1 FM. The show starts at 6 p.m. and begins with performances from Fulton Chain Gang and Skeeter Creek and ends with Montgomery Gentry! The day of the concert VIP pit tickets cost $40, and general admission for fair and concert costs $35.
