Hollywood Vampires take bite out of Turning Stone
It’s not every day that a movie star and famous rockers get together to create a power house band. Well, Joe Perry, Alice Cooper and Johnny Depp did just that with The Hollywood Vampires. After their earth shaking Grammy performance everyone knew who they were and wanted to catch this once in a lifetime show. Well, the Turning Stone Resort & Casino made it happen for Upstate NY. The Hollywood Vampires made us the first stop on their tour. And, we couldn’t begin to thank them enough!
The intensity could be felt as soon as you walked into the Event Center and the first thing you couldn’t help but notice was the smoke/fog coming from all directions giving the room a true rocker vibe. There wasn’t an empty seat in the house until the lights dimmed and silhouettes started to take the dark stage and everyone got up on the feet and started screaming for their favorite rockers. As soon as the intro clip was done playing on the stage screens and the lights raised … you knew Alice Cooper was the ringleader and he commanded everyone’s attention. Alice was a master at storytelling throughout the evening and captured us with his gritty but raspy voice. And, boy did he like to shake his hips while rocking the leather pants.
There were some intense moments when you felt the pure adrenaline pour off the Vampire’s as Joe Parry smashed his guitar on stage (some lucky fans were able to take a piece home with them). But the true moment for Perry was when he belted out the blues with Cooper harmonizing on the harmonica. A true, legendary moment. And, we can’t forget about heart throb turned rocker Johnny Depp. He is a master of his craft and you would have thought he has been playing professionally his entire life. He shredded the guitar like the best of them and matched perfectly with Perry. He even sang back up for a couple of songs. Depp was also adorned in Native American attire to show respect to his bloodline and the Oneida Indian Nation. Whenever Johnny addressed the crowd they went crazy cheering for him!
The night was filled with two hours of nonstop music that was mixed with originals and classic covers that the Hollywood Vampires helped make famous by some of the members. One of the songs that erupted the crowd was their tribute to Lemmy of Motorhead. Everyone was screaming on the top of their lungs and it gave you a rush like no other. The guys played together like they have been playing with each other their entire lives. From beginning to end we were treated to one of the best rock and roll shows for the memory book.
We also would like to take a moment to thank everyone in the Hollywood Vampires family for honoring a request we had put in for a Leukemia patient. Amy Morrissey of Whitesboro is fighting a battle that no one should have to fight – cancer! They granted her and her family meet and greet passes before the show where she was able to meet her longtime crush – Jonny Depp and the rest of the Hollywood Vampire’s. Rumor has it that Depp even kissed Amy on the lips and gladly accepted a bracelet she gave him that all the soldiers in “Amy’s Army” all faithfully wear every day to show their support for her fight. Johnny has continued to wear the bracelet proudly, even on their current overseas trip which has landed them recently in Lisbon, Portugal. We are currently tracking how many consecutive shows in a row that Johnny puts a smile on Amy’s face … no matter where in the world he is. From all of us on Team Fuze – Thank you for making Amy’s wish upon a star come true for her and her loved ones with your act of kindness.
