Everything is homemade at Priscilla’s Place
When you pull into Priscilla’s Place it reminds you of a rustic cottage that belongs in the woods of the Adirondacks – instead it’s nestled in Stittville. The picturesque view is nothing but amazing. Priscilla’s overlooks some of the most beautiful country hills. And, once you step into the restaurant you feel like you are transformed into a modern, hip place. With their smooth grey walls, red and black accents the place invites you in and makes you want to stay awhile. There are many seating options with a counter, booths along the windows with a great view and tables for larger parties. For me it was like stepping back in time … the place looked different and had a different name but had the same feel when I was in high school. A few of my friends used to fuel up before school … this time it was with my family. Priscilla’s Place is known for their great food and especially the local homemade ingredients they use to prepare their delicious meals.
Deep Fried Cheese Curd – The cheese was from a local farm – Grassy Cow Dairy in Remsen. After one bite you can taste the freshness of the cheese. They were deep fried with a light, crispy coating. The little golden nuggets are paired with a smooth marinara sauce that is loaded with flavor.
Farmers Burger – A juicy burger topped with melted cheese, bacon and the best part – an over easy egg. Yes, I said egg. I never thought it would be something I would like but boy was I wrong. It gave such a creamy taste that coated the burger. I highly recommend you try it. I also added mushrooms –a burger isn’t a burger without these little gifts from the earth. The burger is so big that your hands won’t even able to pick it up – a fork and knife is required. The burger is accompanied by a buttery bun that is toasted on the grill. The burger is paired with their homemade pickles. Now, I am a pickle lover and they didn’t disappoint. They were pickled to perfection with hints of garlic, onion and vinegar. They need to bottle them up and sell them. And, what is a burger without the fries. Fresh potatoes cut up and fried up crispy with a soft filling – you can taste the potatoes in every bite. I felt like I eating both breakfast and lunch together.
Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich – thinly shaved steak that is bursting with flavor that is smothered with provolone cheese served on an Italian roll. The roll was toasted and the grill that gave it the right crunch and sealed all the flavors in. A Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich isn’t a sandwich without the cheese. The cheese makes the sandwich – it gives it the right balance. The steak is shaved and cooked on top of the grill that gives it a crispy texture on the outside. A streak sandwich needs the right amount of grease to bind the sandwich together and well folks they did just that. The Philly is served with their homemade pickles and chips. The chips are thinly sliced, deep fried and coated with the right amount of salt.
Chocolate Cream Pie – This pie is a staple at our house for the holidays and when I saw homemade I had to try it. After taking one bite I stepped into my parent’s house. They made it just like I remember – a sweet graham cracker crust filled with a creamy, smooth chocolate pudding topped with whipped cream. This dessert is perfect to pair with a hearty lunch. Nice and light.
Chocolate Ganache Cake – If you can tell we are chocolate lovers. This super moist cake is deep in chocolate flavor with a chocolate frosting that is to die for. It is rich and sweet – a perfect dessert combo. And, we suggest you ask for two forks – it’s big enough to share.
