Dark Star Orchestra invades Saranac Brewery
If you were one of the millions of fans of the Dead that didn’t get to go to Chicago for Fare The Well, and were left streaming the show from whatever glorious people had it going on, fear not. Your chance to revel in the tunes of the Dead is just around the corner. Dark Star Orchestra will be playing their best renditions, with “fanatical attention to detail”, according to Rolling Stone, at the Saranac Brewery at 830 Varick St. in beautiful Utica this Sunday, July 26.
DSO has had quite a bit of experience playing Grateful Dead tunes. A mere 15 years, and over 2200 shows (yes, 2200), along with the honor of playing with original members of the Dead, DSO is definitely at the top of the tribute game. “ The composer spirit is derived and channeled as the players capture the excitement and innovation of the original performances and compositions.” If you have already seen DSO, you know exactly what I’m talking about.
This Sunday’s show has been advertised by Dark Star Orchestra as a “Special JGB Show,” leaving fans in suspense, as they are known to play ANY pieces from the extensive catalog that the Grateful Dead has procured in 30 years of touring.
The Brewery will be opening it’s gates at 6 p.m., with the show starting at 7 p.m. The Brewery will be serving their finest brews, and you can snag tickets right now for just $25. Prices will go up to $30 on the day of the show. You can get your tickets here. Don’t miss it! Bring your friends, and help “raise the Dead!”
