Winter is upon us in Central New York and we have the perfect night out for you to cozy up with your loved one or if that isn’t your thing grab the gang for a night of laughs at Cavallo’s Winter Comedy Series at 8 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 7. The doors open at 7 p.m. and we strongly encourage to get there early seeing the seats fill up quickly. Headlining the showcase is the funny yet sassy Erin Harkes with Jim Felter warming up the stage. And, we have our very own local comedy master Will Phillips hosting the night. So, don’t let the winter blues get you down especially when the crew over at Comedy CNY have packed a night filled with laughs, cold brews and delicious food! And, if that isn’t enough she will be showing her pipes – yes she can sing too at Pizza Boys for a night of acoustic music at 8 p.m., Friday, Jan. 6. Pizza Boys is located at 9 Clinton St. in New York Mills.
Erin Harkes Back story
After years of being told she was funny, on and off stage, in 2012 Erin decided to try her hand at standup comedy. Having found great comfort in front of an audience she was able to make this transition smoothly. Unlike playing music in bars and clubs where people may be chatting or not listening, comedy provided the much needed attention that Erin craved. In a very short amount of time she achieved much local success and has since performed nearly every major club in NYC and even Toronto. Listening to Erin’s sometimes self-deprecating humor takes you inside of her mind and opens her up to the listener. Her ‘crazy’ bit reminds every woman of the futility of chasing after the guy who just wasn’t that into her. Erin’s ability to laugh at herself and make others laugh at themselves is a true gift.
