Comedy Central NY got WOOD
When you hear someone shout out “HOOOOOOOOOO” automatically you put a thumb up in the air and yell “HOOOOOOOOOO” back, unless you have been living under a rock for over the past two decades. During that time frame one man and a WWE Legend was able to win over our hearts and minds – Hacksaw Jim Duggan. We recently got a chance to catch up with Duggan as he embarks on his new journey with “The 2X4 Tour” and heard stories from his great career in professional wrestling that spanned many years. Duggan came onto the stage escorted by his entrance music, smiled, gave everyone a big thumb’s up and then started to speak about the different organizations he has belonged too. He had many great behind the scenes stories that included wrestling icons such as Andre the Giant, Jake the Snake Roberts & many more. Along with Duggan’s storytelling, he incorporates comedy into his routine as well.
One of the stories that stuck out with us was one time he was traveling to an event with Jake Roberts, they pulled into the arena parking lot where at that point they seen a very large crowd. Duggan looked over at Roberts and said: “On the count of 3 let’s make a break for the arena door.” Roberts agreed and at the count of 3 Roberts got out of the vehicle … Duggan locked the doors and waited for the crowd to mob Jake the Snake, then Duggan snuck out of the car and went around the other side to escape the crowd (He couldn’t help but chuckle while he was telling all of us). There was so much that Duggan shared and he even gave the crowd a chance to ask questions of their own for him to answer. Also on the bill that night was 2CW’s Bin Hamin who we found extremely hilarious as he played up Duggan’s entrance with his Middle Eastern oriented set along with comedic opener Kenny Casanova, who was very funny in his own right.
All in all in was another great experience that was put together by Comedy Central NY in their current string of stellar comedy events planned for 2016. Team Fuze captured pics from the night of the performers and the fans afterwards, we hope you enjoy them.
Until the next event, CHEERS!
