CNY SOUPer Bowl takes place Saturday


The crew over at Rome Main Street has created their own SOUPer Bowl this Saturday, Feb. 4 at the Historic Rome Train Station located at 6599 Martin St. in Rome. Chefs from local restaurants have been busy in the kitchen creating their soup masterpieces for the big event and will be competing for the prestigious title of “Best Soup in CNY.” After soup foodies sample these culinary delights like Chicken Riggie Soup, Butternut Squash Soup and Smokey Tomato with Polenta Crouton they will be not only be foodies but judges that will be able to cast their vote for their favorite soups.  There will also be live entertainment provided by Pocket Change & Mick Cummings. Tickets are $12 in advance and can be purchased at any participating restaurant and at the Rome Capitol Theatre Box Office or by calling 315-337-6277. Tickets the day of the event will be $15. Kids younger than 10 are free.  The event starts at 11:30 a.m. and will conclude at 3 p.m.

All proceeds will assist Main Streets with their ARTS on the Erie festival – a fine arts celebration the weekend of July 22-23. This is an integral piece of the overarching Erie Canal Bicentennial Celebration which will kick off a multi-year celebration of the NY Canal System at Bellamy Harbor Park in Rome on July 22, 2017.
