Celebrate the Holidays this weekend

 

This weekend is filled with activities for all ages whether it’s shopping for your special someone at the local Holiday Craft Fair or hanging out with your furry friends at the Utica Zoo for their Holiday Hoot. Central New York is filled with so many special people and wonderful events. It will be hard to say no to one of them. So, make your plans with whole family or your special someone and have fun this holiday season.

 

Saturday

Holidays with the Animals
10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Rosamond Gifford Zoo, 1 Conservation Place, Syracuse. Free for zoo members and with zoo admission. In celebration of the holiday season, animals at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo will be given “presents” as a way to enhance their well-being. Zoo goers can watch the animals play with their new toys and demonstrate natural behaviors.

Holiday Craft Fair
9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Aura, 337 W. Dominick St., Rome. Come do your Holiday Shopping with over 30 vendors!!! Food available. Shop local.

Christmas & Crafts
The 3rd Annual Christmas & Crafts at Turning Stone Resort Casino will take place Saturday, Dec. 10  from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. & Sunday, Dec. 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Turning Stone Events Center. Ted and Amy Christmas Spectacular
10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Destiny USA, 9090 Destiny USA Drive, Syracuse. Maker’s Holiday Market
Noon to 7 p.m., North Country Arts Council, 52 Public Square, Watertown. This event is hosted by the NCAC and sponsored by “The Franklin Building Merchants”: Bare Knuckle Tattoo, Craig Sirianni Vocal Studios, Moontide Arts, Tarot Café, Watertown Piano Lessons – Comet Music Studio, and the Whimsical Pig. Shoppers will enjoy mulled wine by the glass and wine tasting by Thousand Islands Winery, and spirit tasting by Saint Lawrence Spirits. Celebrity Auctioneer, WWNY TV 7 Sports Anchor Mel Busler will host a live art auction, bidding begins at 5 pm.

Christmas at Trinkaus Manor
1 to 2 p.m., Oneida County Historical Society, 1608 Genesee St., Utica. Trinkaus Manor was a holiday destination for many in and around Oneida County for over 40 years. An annual Christmas display featuring over 750,000 lights drew thousands each year from 1949 until 1991. Judy Mallozzi and Dana Nimey-Olney of the Whitesboro Historical Society will discuss the history of Trinkaus Manor and the Christmas traditions. Join us to share memories, stories, music and more.

Candlelight Evening
3 to 7 p.m., The Farmers’ Museum, 5775 State Highway 80, Cooperstown. oin us for one of the region’s best-loved holiday traditions, Candlelight Evening. The landscape of the museum takes on a magical appearance, decorated in greenery and illuminated by hundreds of candles. Ride through the museum’s grounds in wagons pulled by draft horses adorned with “jingle bells.” Experience a dramatic Reading of Charles Dickens’ Classic “A Christmas Carol” by the author himself (as portrayed by Michael Henrici)
Children take part in holiday arts and crafts activities. Visit with Saint Nicholas. Free rides on the Empire State Carousel – courtesy of Matt Sohns and family. 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., So Sweet Candy Café, 531 Varick St., Utica. Holiday open house at So Sweet!!Candy Cafe … festive atmosphere, sales and specials throughout the store, and a hot chocolate bar! Snap a photo at our selfie station, and a fun activity for the kids!

 
Sunday

Holiday Hoot
1-3 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 11 at the Utica Zoo Auditorium. Bring the whole family to have pictures with Santa! (Printed photos are an additional fee). Kids can enjoy meet & greets with our educational animals. Free hot drinks, cookies, and candy will be available. Bring gifts for our animals from our wish list: uticazoo.org/wishlist. Holiday Hoot is included with Zoo Admission (Utica Zoo Members get free admission): Children 2 & Under are free. Children 3 to 12 are $3.00. Adults 13 to 61 are $4.50. Seniors 62+, College Students and Military with ID are $3.50. The zoo is located at 1 Utica Zoo Way in Utica.

Thea Bowman House Toy Drive Paint Party
10:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m., BB Designs, 17 New Hartford Shopping Center, New Hartford. Join us in giving back and having fun! BB Designs is holding a kids paint party to collect Toys for the Thea Bowman House. Instead of paying for admission to this paint party, you get in with a donation of a toy valued of $15.00 or more. You will be painting a 8×10 Snowman to enjoy for years to come and helping a great local cause! If you can’t make the party BB Designs will be collecting toys for the Thea Bowman House up until Christmas! Please feel free and drop off a toy to help a child in need this holiday season!
