Carvers needed for The Great Utica Pumpkin Carve
Do you have what it takes to be the next great pumpkin carver? The Great Utica Pumpkin Carve is offering you a chance to show off your carving skills Thursday, Oct. 8. with carving beginning at 4 p.m. and needs to be completed by 8 p.m. The event opens to the public at 5 p.m. It will also be taking place from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9 and Noon to 9 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 10 at Murnane Field located at the corner of Burrstone Road and Sunset Avenue in Utica. They will be judged by local celebrities for Best Overall, Most Halloween, Best Use of Pumpkin, Best Student Entry and Carvers’ Choice. The People’s Choice award will be given out on Saturday evening. All you have to do is download the form and mail it in to show off your carving skills. This community, family event is raising money to help support Our Lady of Lourdes Community Outreach Programs. Admission is $2 or $10 per family. There will also be face painting, hayrides on Saturday (weather permitting), pumpkin painting, Zoomobile, Bounce House and a Chicken BBQ on Saturday. And, seeing that Halloween is right around the corner and there will be carved pumpkins there will also be candy there.
