Badfish reeled in fans at Westcott
The evening of Sunday, Feb. 26th, opened the Slowride tour at Westcott Theater in Syracuse with the Barroom Philosophers. They have a lively reggae/rock, funky positive sound and a high-energy attitude. Dave Koegel lead the vocals with Shawn Tallet playing guitar & vocals; Josh Way on guitar; bass player Ty Hancock also tickled the keys along with Brenden Boshart rocking the drums. Sun-Dried Vibes enhanced the environment with their impactful lyrics as Zach Fowler sang lead vocals and guitar, Even Tyler on bass and Alex Winchester playing drums. It was a great addition to have SDV all the way up from Rock Hill, SC with their Rasta inspired audio. The backdrop changed over to a big red fish smoking a stogie wearing brass knuckles and the crowd grew exponentially in anticipation while Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody played as the lights dimmed in preparation for Badfish. Badfish: A Sublime Tribute Band brought along a brassy sound encompassing Quinn Carson from Spiritual Rez on trumpet and Danny Torgeson of Captain Squeegee on trombone. Pat Downes lead vocals and guitar; Joel Hanks on bass, Scott Begin beat the drums, and Dorian Duffy playing keys and guitar. They killed it as the crowd got rowdy and grooved into the night. Opening with STP, Badfish jammed together with the bonus brass players creating a harmony of sweet rhythms.
