ADK Winterfest embraces beauty of winter

 

Winter2Now that winter has finally arrived we have just the event for you. The ADK Winterfest is taking place from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 9 at Adirondack Mountain Club, 1002 Adirondack Loj Road, Lake Placid. Winter enthusiasts can experience the beauty of winter with hiking, skiing, snowshoeing, snowshoe scavenger hunt and so much more. The ADK Winterfest is tied into Winter Trails Day that is a nation-wide event that gives family the chance to try snowshoeing and cross country skiing. Don’t even think about hiding indoors … come out to enjoy the scenic sights of Lake Placid and Heart Lake, get your heart pumping with a little winter exercise to help along those New Year resolutions. Make sure to remember to bring your dancing shoes too – Annie in the Water will closing out the night with their high energy funky jams. We say make it a little winter getaway and have some “cool” fun!

Lodging

Adirondak Loj
The Adirondak Loj, was built in 1927, and has space for 38 guests in a combination of private rooms, family bunk rooms, and a co-ed loft. Delicious home-cooked meals, with homemade breads and soups, are served in our rustic dining room. The comfortable living room with its stone fireplace is perfect for recounting the day’s adventures or just relaxing with a book from our Adirondack library.

High Peaks Cyclery

The High Peaks Cyclery has two houses for rent in the village of Lake Placid. They are both a perfect place for individuals or groups to get ready, and relax after a great day at Winterfest. There are great views of the High Peaks mountains out the front window of the High Peaks House and the huge shared deck of both houses.

Hampton Inn & Suites

The brand new Hampton Inn & Suites Lake Placid is a snow lovers paradise offering world class service, spacious rooms, and a hot breakfast buffet served in our award winning great room with a view made for a snow globe! After a cold winter’s day the Hampton Inn & Suites Lake Placid can provide that cozy feeling in front of our fireplace with hot cocoa or the chance to warm up in the hot tub before heading to your warm comfy bed!

The Bunkhouse at Cascade Ski Lodge

Classic Nordic ski lodge with 6 private bunkrooms on 25k of groomed trails. Connected to the Olympic Trail system and Jackrabbit Trail, the bunkhouse is 1 mile from Adirondack Loj Road making it a “hub” for outdoor enthusiasts. Hearty breakfast, common room, shared bathrooms.
