Adirondack Kids Day at Arrowhead Park
What a better way to enjoy a beautiful Fall Day than up north with the Adirondack’s Kids Day that takes place Saturday, Oct. 3 at Arrowhead Park located at 160 State Route 28 in the town of Inlet. This free event offers a variety of events for the entire family including: a Fishing Derby, Archeological Dig, Horseback Rides, Petting Zoo, Bounce Houses, Face Painting, Learn how to use a compass, a possible hike up the Rocky Mountain, Children’s Authors & Illustrators Fair and free candy and popcorn.
The Adventures of Mac the Dog will be participating in the Children’s Authors & Illustrators Fair with their fresh of the press book “Mac ‘N Tosh” and Adirondack’s favorite “Mac ‘N Camping.” What a fun way to get the kids into reading. And, with the cold weather fast approaching these books would be make a great addition to your library. The books will be available to purchase.
The event kicks off at 8 a.m. with a delicious pancake breakfast and will continue throughout the day with several fun events taking place. Make your plans now for a day of with the entire family.
8 – 11 a.m. – Pancake Breakfast at Inlet Fire Hall – Benefits the Inlet Parent Teacher Partnership
10 a.m. – 3 p.m. – Stop at the Kiwanis Information Booth at Chambers Commons (Adirondack Reader & French Louie’s ADK Sports) for schedule of events & free goody bag for every child (while supplies last). This is also where you sign up for the Fishing Derby and the Hike with Tyler Chase
10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. – French Louie Fishing Derby on Fifth Lake & Arrowhead Boardwalk. Children up to age 12 accompanied by an adult are invited to sign up @ the Kiwanis Information Tent. Fishing on the Arrowhead Boardwalk is open 10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Fishing on the raft on Fifth Lake will be one-hour slots between 10:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Thank you to ECO Kelly for helping with this
10 a.m. – 3 p.m. – Visit Experts in Outdoor Recreation [Tyler Chase of Adirondack Outdoor Expeditions, Connie Perry of Frisky Otter Tours & Emma Antolos of Adirondack Watershed Institute of Paul Smith’s College Stewarding Program] Advice, Instruction & Demonstrations in paddling & hiking & knot tying & invasive species
10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. – Face Painting by Maggie Henry & Word of Life at Chambers Commons
10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. – Horseback Riding, Petting Zoo & Bounce House by Word of Life at Arrowhead Park
10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. – Free Cotton Candy & Popcorn by Inlet Community Church at Chambers Commons
10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. – Noah’s Ark Animal Workshop by Inlet Youth Commission at Inlet Town Hall. Select & stuff an animal, insert a rainbow star & create a birth certificate for your new cuddly friend
10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. – Play Miniature Golf at Putterfingers. Get a hole-in-one at the mystery hole and win a book from The Adirondack Kids® series signed by the authors
10 a.m. – Noon – Work with the Artist with Nancy Carpenter of Itty & Bitty series & Adirondack Coloring Book at Inlet Public Library
11 – 11:30 a.m. – Magic by Jim Oakey at Chambers Commons
11 a.m. – Noon – Presentation with Mark Manske from Adirondack Raptors (See up close & personal amazing birds of prey!) at Inlet Town Hall
11:30 a.m. – Official launch of Inlet Outdoor Family Challenge! at Inlet Town Hall (during a break in Mark’s presentation)
11:30 a.m. until they are gone! – Town of Webb Key Club kids will be selling Hot Dogs at Chambers Commons
12:15 – 12:45 p.m. – Live Music by Just Kitten’ at the Arrowhead Park Pavilion. Rain location at Inlet Town Hall. Two local Adirondack kids
12:15 – 1:15 p.m. – Archeological Dig with Mitch Lee at Inlet Youth Commission Building
1 – 1:30 p.m. – Magic by Jim Oakey at Chambers Commons
