What’s better than a traditional Battle of the Bands? One that not only provides the excitement of some of the best musical talent in the area vying for the top spot, but also aids an organization in helping to prevent and raise awareness about suicide along with mental illness.

Saturday, May 9 at 4 p.m. The Lost Horizon located at 5863 Thompson Rd. in Syracuse, will house the 2015 Stand Against Suicide Battle of the Bands. Admission is a $10 donation to Stand Against Suicide for this all-ages event, which is sure to be an amazing evening. Tickets can be purchased at the door, on the Stand Against

Auditions were held in March, and the bands to make the final cut and prepare for battle are Central New York favorites Blame Anchor, Circle the Suffering, Bound for the Floor, Apollo Reborn, After Earth , Never the Voiceless and Vada March. Come help decide which of these bands claims victory, and be proud that your donation is going to a great charity that helps so many. By the way…if you wear a Stand Against Suicide T-shirt you will be entered in a drawing to win prizes! A new twist to this year’s Battle – the band whoever raises the most money for suicide prevention will be opening up for Hinder at this year’s DFB

Also, the winner will take home other goodies like a $1,000 in cash, 30 hours of recording time, including 3 songs mixed and mastered, 1,000 download cards for your NEW release, Professional Photo shoot (with 2 locations of your choice and 40 edited pics), 50 one color band T-shirts that YOU design, 500 guitar pics, 1000 stickers and 100 buttons. The band taking the second spot will go home with: recording time, 1 song mixed and mastered, Professional Photo shoot- 1 location, 20 edited pictures, – 50 Printed Band Shirts, 500 Guitar pics, Lyric Video and a $100 gas card. Rounding up in third place will take home Lyric Video, $100 gas card and Photo shoot. Stand Against Suicide is a nonprofit organization operating out of Elbridge, NY and has been serving the community since 2011. They are a volunteer-based organization whose goal is to provide educational/awareness materials and prevention resources for those affected by mental illness and suicide. Stand Against Suicide provides educational materials to schools, healthcare providers and the general public, focusing on children, teens and the elderly. The organization is known for actively participating in and hosting several fundraising events. All the proceeds raised by these events go directly back to the organization where the funds can be used for printing and distributing awareness materials, public education tools and other community outreach programs.
