Redline takes over The Gig

indexAs a kid growing up in the 70’s and 80’s my musical tastes leaned towards the harder rocking, big show style of bands. Even though most of those bands are long gone, many great cover bands keep that music alive for all of us to enjoy to this day. The only thing missing is the stage show that use to go along with those hard rocking tunes. Well, I found one band that’s bringing that type of show back to all of us. Redline is that band. And, with luck they will be performing at 10 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 27 at The Gig/Turning Stone Resort & Casino, 5218 Patrick Road, Verona.

When you go to a Redline show, the first thing you’ll notice, long before the band takes the stage, is a big, double bass drum set, on a riser and bordered on either side by stacks of Marshall amplifiers. Their stage set has a look that will immediately take you back to the 80’s. You will get a true rock show experience with these guys. From the moment the intro blasts through the PA, right through to the final chord of the night, Redline will have you completely entertained visually, as well as musically. Big drums, big amps, big lights, big sound and big energy is what you’re going to get from every Redline show! I always say, when you go to a club, you don’t go just to listen to a band, you go to “see” a band. These guys give us people from that particular generation, the show that we’ve been missing for so many years.

Redline consists of former members of Emerald City, Northern Lights and The New York Flyers. Each member of this four piece powerhouse brings their own unique talent and style to the band. Everyone in this group sings lead vocals at some point during the show, so there aren’t many songs that this lineup can’t cover. Quiet Riot, Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, The Scorpions, Van Halen, Aerosmith, STYX (which is often considered one of the best vocal performances of any local band), as well as countless other great bands appear on their set list. Amazing vocals and killer guitar, are at the forefront of Redline, with thunderous drums and spine rattling bass providing the backbone.

Redline is comprised of Earl “The Pearl” Hamilton on drums and vocals, Joe McSweeney on lead guitar and vocals (both from Syracuse), Tony Campione (from Herkimer) on lead guitar and vocals and Mike Marzullo (from Amsterdam, NY) on bass and vocals. After a short two month break, where they have added an entire set of new material will return with a palpable energy that will leave you wanting more. You will have plenty of opportunities to see these guys, with shows stretching from Albany to Alexandria Bay, Rochester to Syracuse and everywhere in between. Be sure to get out and rock with Redline as soon as possible. You won’t be disappointed!
