Neighborhood Block Party Sunday

The Bagg’s Square Association is showing off their love of Utica and everything local with the Bagg’s Square Neighborhood Block Party from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday, July 31 around the 100 Block of Genesee and Hotel streets (in front of Utica Coffee Roasting, Utica Bread and Gerber’s 1933 Tavern, etc.). The air will be filled with the sweet and spicy smells from our infamous local food trucks along with the local restaurants, bakeries and coffee shops.

This family event will also feature Tucci Hot Rod Cars, Classic Cars, the Utica Zoomobile, Shriners Clowns, Apex Auto Magazine, face painting, a bubble area for children and a fire truck and police car display. And, it isn’t a party unless there is music. Up and coming local band D.FUNK.D will be playing the horns mixed with a little funk, a little pop, a little dance and a little rock for your listening pleasure. And, we can’t forget the arts – there will be live art demonstrations from TRand, Ashley Stagner and Maria Vallese.

Want to know more about the history of Bagg’s Square? Local historians will be providing walking tours of Bagg’s Square West at Noon and 2 p.m., meeting under the Lower Genesee Street Bridge. Utica Coffee Roasting and A&P Master Images will also be giving tours of their establishments at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., respectively.

Make sure you stick around until the end because the Bagg’s Square Association will be dedicating a plaque to the Landmark Society. They will be thanking them for assistance with the freshly retouched mural at 98 Genesee Street.

So, come out and explore the historical district of Bagg’s Square, sample some delicious treats, listen to music all while mingling with your neighbor.
